03/28/07 - Paul Wolstencroft Adds Keys To "Something So Far"

Paul Wolstencroft, who stepped on the scene as the keyboardist for Jiggle the Handle (later Jiggle), and currently spends time in Ron Levy's Wild Kingdom and his newest creation B3 Kings, laid down some tracks on the Pidgeon original "Something So Far" for the upcoming Arcoda album "Doubt Is For Losers" today, March 28, 2007. Tracks included organ and strumming the inside of an upright piano. Paul will be lending his talents to many more of the record's tunes as the weeks progress. We'll keep you posted. Thanks to Paul for his time and efforts.

On March 7, 2007, drummer Randy Wooten and bassist Seth Rivers laid down the rhythm tracks for "Samosa Blues," "What?," and "Faz." These three tunes conclude the rhythm tracks for the album! Vocals and guitar tracks for these three tunes will be completed in March with horns, keys, backing vocals and symphony to follow in April. Rock!

02/19/07 - Arrangements for "What?" and "Faz"

A sketch for the symphonic arrangement for the tune "What?" has been completed. The rough score was created from 02/17/07 - 02/18/07. The rough score for "Faz" began today. Not sure how all the instruments will be recorded yet, but where there's a will there's a way. A rough arrangement for "Samosa Blues" is forthcoming as well.

01/29/07 - 9 Down, 3 To Go

January 24, 2007 marked the completion of vocals, guitars, bass, drums, and percussion for 9 of the 12 songs on the album. "What," "Faz," and "Samosa Blues" will be tracked on March 7th with horns, strings and keyboards (piano, Rhodes, organ, etc.) to be overdubbed for all songs in the following months. We are hoping for a July 31st release date. Camp Street Studio in Cambridge, MA, owned by Paul Kolderie (Radiohead), is our desired mix location with engineer extraordinaire Brian Brown back at the helm for his third Arcoda release. Exciting times!

11/01/06 - 3 Songs Near Completion

Ok, so it's no so easy to keep this thing updated. Not like there are more pressing issues like actually recording the album. But alas, I have found myself here to give you the latest and greatest on the new disc. It is officially going to be titled "Doubt Is For Losers." You'll find this lyric in the album track "Samosa Blues."

"You're My Girl," "Something So Far," and "Dream With Me" are near the final tracking stages with guests to come through in the coming months to add some character.

Rhythm tracks for "Julie," "Clearly," and "(I'm) Here With You" have all been laid down. The next rhythm session with be in January with overdubs, editing and vocals happening in the meantime as well as arranging for the next set of three tunes.

We are aiming for a May/ June release but don't hold us to it. We have a life too you know... Be well!

08/07/06: On the Eve of Continuance

Recording session booked for 08/23/06 when "Something So Far" and hopefully one or two more final tracks will be laid down. Eric Kalb, who was the drummer for John Scofield's album "Bump," and bassist extraordinaire Nate Edgar will be the acting rhythm section for the date. Nate and Eric were the rhythm section behind Peter Prince and the Trauma Unit - Pete's favorite, although short-lived, band to come out of Boston in the last 5 years.

The rough track of "Something So Far" was completed on 07/28/06.

Hiked AND drove to the summit of Mt. Washington (driving was worse) this past weekend and last week hired new instructors for my Pete Pidgeon Music School. Check it out at www.petepidgeonmusicschool.com. September 1st is the peak of business at the school so attention has been diverted from the album for the moment.

07/28/06: Something So Far - mix of rough track

Mixing the rough tracks recorded on 07/24/06.
